The Consulate of Sweden in San Diego is a very active, honorary consulate located in one of the world's most important high-technology regions. We strive to promote Sweden, Swedish business and Swedish interests in the area. The Consulate will accept applications for one Technology and Trade intern for the spring 2013 period, ranging from late June 2013 to early January 2014, to work with staff and other interns.
It is an absolute requirement that the intern is fluent in written and spoken English. The intern should possess an outgoing attitude and be willing to initiate new projects. A general interest in technology and the driving forces of international economics is preferred. The intern is required to be able to work independently and show power of initiative. The intern will also take part in the consular affairs work, including emergency services provided to Swedish citizens.
Good networking skills are vital, as well as an ability to establish and maintain good relations with the local business community. The intern for Technology and Trade will write and edit a monthly newsletter about technology, economics and trade trends in Southern California.
The applicant must be a Swedish citizen and preferably have completed at least three years of university studies. The internship is unpaid, but can be combined with the applicant’s university studies. It is also possible to combine the internship with the writing of a thesis.
