Pulse International is looking for a Nurse Manager for the Post-anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) of an exciting new healthcare project in Qatar.
Job description:
Scheduled to open in 2013, the Sidra Medical and Research centre will offer the latest technology and equipment to meet world-class standards in patient care, medical education and biomedical research. There will be a sophisticated clinical and translational research programme, general adult medical and surgical services and specialty care for women and children. The centre will be a teaching venue for medical students at Weill Cornell Medical College - a branch of the prestigious Ivy League university in New York.
The 28-bed PACU will provide Phase 1 recovery for paediatric patients and gynaecological care for women on an urgent / emergent basis. The unit will provide continuous intensive monitoring, observation and care following interventional or operative procedures for which anaesthesic or sedation has been administered. There will be a dedicated paediatric area.
Reporting to the Director of Peri-operativeServices, the Unit Manager is responsible for the direction, administration and evaluation of patient care and for the staff assigned to the unit. She will play a major role in the implementation of the Sidra vision of family-centred care. As the project nears completion the role will change and after the centre opens the successful candidate will take on a senior operational role.
The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with a Master’s degree in Nursing or a Healthcare related subject and at least seven years progressive nursing management experience in PACU.
Experience in international accreditation, such as Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) would be an advantage.
