Commissioning Engineer

Business Unit Renewables is responsible to manage and operate all Offshore and Onshore wind parks as well as Offshore and Onshore wind projects with regards to development, construction and execution within the Region Continental/UK. In addition BU Renewable identifies profitable growth options for any other kind of renewable energy sources and develops solutions for system integration of renewable energy sources.

Vattenfall’s Business Division Renewables is now recruiting

a Commissioning Engineer to be part of the Construction Management Organization. The organization is responsible for the safe and timely installation and commissioning of Vattenfall’s offshore wind farms.
The role will be in Esbjerg. During the planning phase frequent trips will be required to the Hamburg project office. If required you will also be expected to work on projects across our offshore portfolio. You are using your knowledge, experience and sound judgment to support on all aspect of the commissioning work together with implementing & supervising all aspects of electrical safety, HV Commissioning & Energisation Offshore as set down by the Commissioning Manager.

Your job as Commissioning Engineer:

• High Voltage Safety Coordinator and Senior Authorized Person for ‘Safety from the System’
• Being the authorized operator of all high-voltage system, including the transmission assets to manage and implement the application of safety precautions
• Responsible for the Assessment and Approval of Authorized staff, capable of providing ‘Safety from the System’ in line with ArbSchG BGV A1, BGV A3, DIN VDE 1000-10 standards
• Responsible for the team comprising of additional SAP’s (where necessary), AP’s and operational technicians, as assessed and approved based on the requirements
• Day-to-day operation of platform, in association with the Commissioning Manager during construction phase, interim operational phase and final hand-over to Generation
• Coordination of inter-system operational boundary and associated safety procedures with the Transmission Service Operator
• Implementing the Back Energisation procedures and switching schedules to energize the wind farm in line with the Commissioning Managers requirements
• Coordinating testing, commissioning and energisation of all offshore submersible cabling, where necessary
• Witnessing submarine cable testing and final commissioning, where deemed necessary
• Control of operational procedures related to energisation of turbines
• Aligning with the Commissioning Manager regarding Safety from the System and the implementation of the site electrical safety rules
• Overseeing the 155/33kV offshore substation commissioning activities in association with the Commissioning Manager
• Post energisation – operating as a Safety Coordinator/Senior Authorized Person for all cross border/boundary operational activities
• Producing wind farm Back Energisation procedures/Method Statement/Risk Assessments, specific to offshore activities in association with onshore SC/SAP
• Process Safety Rules Clearance Certificates (SRCC) making ready for System Energisation, in line with the Commissioning Managers requirements
• Collating all wind farm energisation/SRCC documentation to form handover package to O&M for archiving in association with onshore SC/SAP
• Operate and Manage The Wind Farm Interim Control Room and ensure all switching activities are logged as necessary to operate the wind park safety
• Manage and administer the Surveillance reporting system for the commissioning activities
• Any other ad hoc activities, as directed by Construction Management

Your profile as Commissioning Engineer:

• Bachelors/Masters engineering degree or similar
• Good English Language Skills, an advantage if you also have German and Danish language skills, and knowledge of German electrical safety rules
• Experience in:
o Management of electrical safety
o HV commissioning
o Control of HV operations and switching
o Grid code and grid connection requirements
• Team player with excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in an international environment
• Well organized and structured work approach
