Our UK operation is divided between eight regional distribution centres with each servicing one eighth of our portfolio of almost 650 stores. We have a variety of store, warehouse and office based vacancies in each region.

The Area Manager is responsible for;

Ensuring the company's operational standards are maintained at all times; such as cleanliness, freshness, availability, ticketing and good customer service.
Management and control of the district's Key Cost Control Areas (Turnover, Write Offs, Inventory and Productivity) agreed between the SOM and DM at the monthly cost meeting.
Conducting monthly Cost Meetings with the Store Manager to address key cost control areas and personnel issues.
Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the staff, visitors and customers in our stores.

Monitoring all legal obligations in accordance with H&S, alcohol licensing, Trading Law and ensuring all requirements are met.

Driving sales in stores and increasing turnover by making full use of promotional tools.
Reducing write offs by quality store ordering by utilising all tools available (SOSIS, SHO) without jeopardising availability.

Communicating daily with the stores to collate sales, productivity and write off figures with the intention to control any fluctuations and react accordingly.
Conducting a weekly Cash Audit in all stores to ensure that all cash procedures have been correctly followed.
Controlling a store Inventory by personally conducting stocktakes in set intervals and ensuring all stores conduct necessary daily inventory controls.

Communication from the Regional Distribution Centre to store staff and management.
Identifying personnel requirements through succession planning and utilisation of company tools.
Successfully recruiting new staff and managing their expectations/training as well as that of existing employees.

Implementing full compliance with the Company's disciplinary & grievance procedure.
Working towards a productive routine and aiming to add value to each store on every visit.
Ensuring all data held about individuals is data protection compliant.

The Successful Applicant:
The Area Manager may be required to carry out duties other than those described above whenever it becomes necessary to ensure that the business continues to function successfully.
