Electrolux North America, Inc., a $5 billion manufacturing and sales subsidiary of AB Electrolux, is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to handle all aspects of general ledger accounting and financial reporting for its holding companies in the US and Canada. This position will also be responsible for consolidation of various reporting entities to produce financial statements for a number of legal entities in the US and Canada. The position requires an excellent understanding of general ledger and monthly financial close processes, together with knowledge and experience in the application of generally accepted accounting principles. The position reports to the Accounting Manager, Major Appliances North America and is based in Charlotte, NC.
Maintain overall responsibility for the general ledgers and perform month-end closing responsibilities for ledgers/reporting entities assigned, including the following: Preparation and posting of journal entries. Ensure appropriate documentation is attached and transaction is appropriate. Implement process improvements to (1) standardize journal entry formats within the group, (2) review routine journal entries to determine which can be automated or made prior to month end close, (3) consolidate or eliminate entries so as to minimize the number of journal entries; Preparation of account reconciliations. Ensure that all required reconciliations are completed by the established deadline. Recognize inappropriate balances and transactions with follow-up and resolution. Train staff on proper reconciliation processes and implement process improvement to standardize reconciliation formats; Preparation of monthly financial statements and submission to Group Accounting in Stockholm. Review financial statements prior to submission to provide assurance that reporting is done in accordance with Group policies and procedures.
Perform financial analysis during close including review and explanation of large variances.
Perform quality control procedures to ensure that ledgers are in balance and accounts are properly coded.
Prepare consolidations of US and Canadian legal entities as necessary to support preparation of financial statements and other reporting requirements
Assist in preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements for the top US holding company in accordance with US GAAP for external distribution
Assist in preparation of year-end consolidated financial statements for US and Canadian companies, including footnote support
Provide support to Holding company managers, treasury and tax analysts as needed
Monitor spending by cost center through periodic preparation of actual vs. budget comparison as requested
Ensure that all accounting and reporting activities comply with the Electrolux Accounting Manual
Manages and improves the monthly financial closing process
Maintain process documentation, responsible for the effectiveness of internal controls for the closing routine process and other general accounting processes including maintenance of risk and control scorecards
Coach and develop direct reports as well as influence other team members
Align resources and talents to achieve business and project requests
Work with external auditors on hard close and year end financial audits
Compile federal and state tax information for the tax department annually
Complete special projects as assigned by manager
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required. Masters preferred.
3-5 years experience in industry or public accounting, including 1-2 years of previous leadership experience
CPA certification required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Intermediate Excel skills required, Advanced a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
JD Edwards and/or SAP experience a plus
