Site Characterisation Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer Contract role to replace an individual who is going on maternity leave. Onshore LNG project
Alternative job title – Survey specialist

Job Purpose – Senior Site Characterisation Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer:

– To support a variety of offshore projects in the site characterisation activities. To define, plan, control and follow-up the site survey program. To prepare technical specification and SoW for site survey and to follow-up tendering and awarding. To assist subsea engineering team in the geohazard and survey data sets interpretation and site basic data definition (geophysical, geotechnical and meteocean). To support the geotechnical characterisation of the seabed.

Main responsibilities– Senior Site Characterisation Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer:
– Establish project needs for soil & seabed data/information
– Take leadership of the geohazard function based on survey
– Interface with site characterisation team
– Support field team in managing contractor
– Meeting HSEQ targets
– Coordinate seismic hazard assessment and seismic design parameters definition from dedicated specialists
– Address issues and concerns related to interaction between soil geotechnical characteristics and submarine structures
– Address issues and concerns related to stability of submarine slopes, liquefaction problems and all the issues related to geohazard
– Ensure comprehensiveness and quality of relevant technical reports up to industry and Company standards

Key activities – Senior Site Characterisation Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer:
– Plan and organise geophysical and geotechnical data collection (survey specifications, technical bid evaluation)
– Site survey program definition, planning and monitoring
– Interpretation of geophysical and geotechnical survey data sets
– Interpretation and endorsement of geohazard reports to the engineering development team
– Supervise geophysical & geotechnical marine surveys
– Support subsea engineering for submarine route selection for pipelines, flowlines and umbilicals
– Assigned to complex integrated projects interfacing with engineers

Education:
* MSC or PhD in related field (engineering, geotechnical, geology, geophysics)

Required Experience – Senior Site Characterisation Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer:
– At least 5 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry
– Experience working with large, multi-discipline project teams;
– Experience with offshore survey campaign (Geophysical, Geotechnical, Meteocean)
– Experience with geohazard assessment: knowledge of seismic interpretation and integration of other geological data to define geohazard assessment
– Knowledge/experience of acquisition, processing and analysis of offshore site survey and seismic data (this is not essential)
– Knowledge/experience of geohazards and understanding of drilling, foundation and subsea field development issues

Required knowledge, technical or professional skills:
– Economics General: Economics , OPEX Budgeting, Economics evaluation, make or buy choice, Economics Planning and Control, Cost estimating/budgeting/cost analysis/control

– Contracting: Def. of Contract Strategy, Variations and Claim Resolution, Contract Negotiate. & Mgmt, Contractors Document. Review & Approval

– Technical Specification & Bidding: Prep. of ITT Documentation, Prep. of Functional Specification, Technical & Contract. Specific. Prep. (Engineering), Bidding, Evolution technological market, Specific suppliers and contractors market knowledge, Preparation and development of technical Standard, Tender technical evaluation

– Quality & Safety (Generic)

– HSEQ General (Generic)

– Environment & Geodyn. (Generic)

– Health & Radiation Protection (Generic)
